We taste Cherry Cordial & Limeade
During the 2021 harvest season, a new washing station was established in Burundi's Muyinga province, providing small-scale farmers with a nearby solution for processing their freshly harvested cherries. Before this, farmers faced a challenging 20-kilometer trek through rugged terrain to reach the nearest station, making same-day processing—vital for quality—impossible. This new wet mill has now made it possible for farmers to continue to provide these high-quality coffees that the region is renowned for. The workers at this new washing station consist of nearly 2,000 experienced artisans, who are dedicated to producing coffees that continue to captivate us.
This Burundi Hafi is a naturally processed coffee, which means the whole cherries are dried in the sun without the intervention of water or machines. This traditional process allows for a typically more fruit forward flavor profile.
We're tasting notes of cherry cordials and limeade! This coffee is rich and sweet, yet wonderfully balanced with a bright, lively acidity that reminds us of sipping a cherry limeade on a hot summer day!
Available in 12oz, 2lb, or 5lb bags.
